Purpose of Disciplinary System
A student enrolling in the SS-CARE School of Engineering assumes an obligation to
conduct himself or herself in a manner compatible with the institute's function as an
educational institution. Actions considered inimical to the institute and subject to discipline
fall into the categories of academic and non-academic misconduct. The Student Code of
Conduct clearly defines these expectations and outlines the adjudication process. The
purpose of the Student Code of Conduct is to educate all members of the SS-CARE
community and to maintain an environment conducive to academic excellence.
Inherent Authority
The institute reserves the right to take necessary and appropriate actions to protect the
safety and well being of the campus community.
Jurisdiction
Academic misconduct relevant to any institute activity will be addressed wherever it may
occur. Non-academic misconduct includes the acts identified in code of conduct section of
this Code whenever such acts:

Occur on institute premises; or
-
Occur at institute sponsored activities; or
-
Occur at Group or Organization Activities; or
-
Create a clear and present danger of material interference with the normal or
orderly processes of the institute or its requirements of appropriate discipline
Class Room Behaviour
The primary responsibility for managing the classroom environment rests with the
instructor. Students who are engaged in any prohibited or unlawful acts that result in
disruption of a class may be directed by the instructor to leave the class for the
remainder of the class period. Depending upon the seriousness of the issue, the
instructor may also file a complaint with the Chairman of the department to take further
action against the student. The Chairman may deal with the case himself and may
impose additional fines or suspension from classes for a longer time, or forward it to the
Discipline Committee for further action.
Student Code of Conduct
As a student of SS-CARE School of Engineering you will be required to observe the
following code of conduct:

Loyalty to Pakistan and refraining from doing anything, which is repugnant to its
honor and prestige in any way

Respect for convictions and traditions of others in matters of religion,
conscience and customs while observing your own religious duties/customs

Truthfulness and honesty in dealing with other people
-
Respect for elders and politeness to all, especially to women, children, old
people, the weak and the helpless
-
Special respect for your teachers and others in authority in the institute
-
Cleanliness of body, mind, speech and habits
-
Helpfulness to fellow beings
-
Devotion to studies and prescribed co-curricular activities
-
Observance of thrift and protection of public property
Prohibited Acts
The following acts are prohibited for students

Smoking in the campus

Use of alcoholic drinks or other intoxicating drugs within the campus or during instructions, sports or cultural tours or survey camps or entering such places or
attending any such tour or camp

Use of mobile phones in classrooms, library, labs. and examination halls
-
Organizing or taking part in any function inside the campus or organizing any
club or society of students except in accordance with the prescribed rules and
regulations
-

Joining or participating in the activities of any societies/groups/websites where
indecent actions/remarks are being made against SS-CARE, its faculty, staff or
students

Collecting any money or receiving funds or pecuniary assistance for or on behalf
of the institution except with the written permission of the Executive Director or
any other person authorized on this behalf
-
Staging, inciting or participating in or abetting any walkout, strike or other form of
agitation against the institute, its teachers, officers or authorities, inciting anyone
to violence, disruption of the peaceful atmosphere in any way, making
inflammatory speeches or gestures which may cause resentment, issuing of
pamphlets or cartoons casting aspersions on the teachers or staff or its
authorities / bodies or doing anything in any way likely to promote rift and hatred
among the students, issuing statements in the press, making false accusations
or lowering the prestige

Theft of any item, which is institute's property including unauthorized taking
away of library/laboratory equipment
-
Indulging in acts involving chalking of premises or display of posters/leaflets/
notices jeopardizing the maintenance of good order and discipline at the institute
premises

Fighting/quarreling with other students
Acts of Indiscipline
A student who:
-
Commits a breach of conduct specified in the previous section
-
Disobeys the lawful orders of a teacher or other person in authority
-
Habitually neglects his work or absents himself/herself from the classroom
without valid reason
-
Willfully damages public property or the property of fellow students or any
teacher or employees of the institute
-
Does not pay the fees, fines, or other dues payable under the laid down rules and
regulations
-
Uses indecent language, wears immodest dress, makes indecent remarks or
gestures or behaves in a disorderly manner; or commits any criminal, immoral or
dishonorable act (whether committed within the institute or outside) or any act
which is prejudicial to the interests of the institute and fellow students
-
Displays lack of respect for the other fellow students is considered to have
committed an act of indiscipline
Action against Misconduct
Every member of the Faculty and staff has the responsibility as well as the power to
check any disorderly or improper conduct of, or any breach of the regulations by
students in any part of the institute/campus or outside when on a visit that has been
sponsored or organized by it. Misconduct in a classroom when a student is under the
charge of a teacher shall not be allowed and punitive action, if found guilty, may be
initiated depending upon the seriousness of the misconduct and in accordance with the
procedure listed subsequently in this chapter. Faculty members have been given
powers to warn students and also to forward observation slips about the bad conduct of
any student.
Procedure in Case of Breach of Discipline
A teacher, a staff member or an officer in whose presence or in relation to whom an act of
indiscipline has been committed or who gets to know of such an act, will either deal with
the case him/her-self, or if in his/her view the act of indiscipline or the misconduct is of
more serious nature, then he/she may refer the case to the Discipline Committee. The
Discipline Committee will investigate the matter and after investigation can impose
penalties on the student, including but not limited to suspension from classes/exams for
a specified period, imposition of fines, cancellation of semester registration, or even
expulsion from the institute, if found guilty. The Committee, if it deems fit, can also
suspend the student from the classes with the approval of the Executive Director till the
finalization of the case.
Student Dress Code
It is compulsory for all students to wear a proper dress. Students who are not properly
dressed shall not be allowed to enter the institute campus.
Female Students Dress
Female students should wear shalwar, kameez and dupata, which should be in line
with Pakistan's cultural and religious traditions.
Male Students Dress
Dress code for the male students is a dress shirt with trouser and dress shoes.
Student ID Card
Students are issued Student ID-Cards. They are required to have their ID-Cards in the
campus and present to authorized persons on demand. The particulars of the student
like Enrollment Number, UET Registration Number and Program etc. are all embedded
in the barcodes of the 1D cards. In case a student loses his/her ID-Card, he/she must
report the loss immediately to the program coordinator who will make arrangements for
the issuance of a new card after payment of a fine of Rs.500.
