Mr. Asrar Ashraf
Asrar Ashraf is currently working with SS-CARE School of Engineering as a permanent faculty member. His area of specialization is software aspect of Communication Systems with special emphasis to the Communication Protocols.
Educational Qualifications
M.S/PhD in Computer Engineering in Progress from CASE, Islamabad
B.E. in Electronics Engineering, NED University, Karachi
Work Experience
Mr. Asrar Ashraf has work experience of over 7 years in private sector companies like BNZ Technologies Pakistan, CETP (Communications Enabling Technologies) and CARE. His accomplishments are in the fields of real time software applications and embedded system design for Telecommunication Networks and data communications. At BNZ Technologies Islamabad, Mr. Asrar had been working on software design of Test Bed for Microwave range devices that involved handling hardware interfacing with Hewlett Packard test equipments like Noise Figure meters, Power Measurement Systems, Oscilloscopes and Vector Analyzer for measurement of all S-Parameters. At Enabling Technologies, he was involved in design and implementation of the VoIP stack including H.323, SIP, Megaco/H.248 and MGCP protocols for IP Media Gateway. His considerable achievement was being Task lead of development team for implementation and design of complete SS7 and ISDN PRI stack for ACD system for PTCL. He was also key member of Roam-able IP based videophone project that was outsourced by
DOCOMO, USA. At CARE, he has been involved in challenging research projects like design and
development of PSTN secure phone and fax, development of secure GSM Phone and Design of IVR based Intelligent Network System used as Calling Card system. He has also lead a project of Secure Interconnect Gateway that provides secure data communication with mobile nodes over multiple interfaces like GSM, GPRS, VHF, UHF and Satellite.
