Dr. Saeed Ur Rehman

Dr. Saeed-ur-Rehman is Executive Director at SS-CARE. He specializes in embedded systems and classical and modern control systems. Among other areas of interest are digital estimation and control, adaptive identification and control, variable speed drives and power electronics. Dr. Rehman has more than 12 years of industry and academic experience. He has published several publications in reputed journals/conferences and holds one US patent.

Educational Qualifications

M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology Atlanta, GA USA, in 1993 and 1996, respectively.
B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, 1989 from UET, Lahore

Work Experience

Dr. Dr. Rehman has worked as the design engineer at Litton PolyScientific, Blacksburg Virginia, USA where he developed sensorless control for Switched Reluctance motors and holds a patent on it. On his return to Pakistan in 1997, he joined College of E&ME, NUST, Rawalpindi as full-time Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering. During his 3-years of full-time teaching at E&ME, he taught many undergraduate and graduate level courses and supervised many under-graduate final year projects, some of which were awarded the “Best Project Award” in 2000, Dr. Rehman joined Communications Enabling Technologies, Islamabad as the Principal Engineer and headed the systems group. Under his guidance, this group developed several multilayered high-speed PCBs for various embedded system hosting RISC processors, FPGAs and running embedded software developed on Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOSes). He was the main architect of an IP-enabled 1000-line iPBX. His group has developed various device drivers for several OSes including Windows, Linux, and RTOSes like RTLinux, ThreadX and VxWorks. In January 2003, he joined CARE as the Principal Engineer and VP Operations. Throughout this time, he maintained his contact with academia and has been a regular faculty member at Center for Advanced Studies in Engineering (CASE) Islamabad and teaches graduate level courses in the areas of Control Systems to Master and Ph.D. students. He is also supervising several Ph.D. students. He has also taught several courses to under-graduate students in the Department of Mechatronics at College of E&ME, as visiting faculty from 2000 till 2003..
